Arkansas Rice Festival 2010 (tags: adventures, bff_adventures, ganon, family, bryan)

So here we have photos from the Arkansas Rice Festival 2010!

It's funny: I used to avoid the Rice Festival like the plague. I think perhaps it's an example of "familiarity breeds contempt". I haven't been back in years, but this year Bryan is the Weiner High junior class sponsor. For those of you who are not Weiner natives (which, let's face it, is everyone but me), Weiner is one of those schools where the junior class "throws" the prom and invites the senior class. This means the junior class is the most active class regarding extra curricular activities, because they have to raise all this money to do the prom thing. One of the things the junior class does is a hamburger booth at the Rice Festival in October. They always make a lot of money because they price better than all the fair vendors who are also there. Canned sodas are $1 as opposed to the $3 you'll pay at the professional vendor booths. :)

Anyway, Bryan is apparently a "cool teacher". The juniors were all there, helping work the booth, and they all seemed really excited to be there. You can tell he's a general favorite around the school, not to mention Ganon, who is probably the junior class mascot. :)

Mr. Creech: Burger Warrior. (No, he didn't cook. But he's the math teacher so he counted money.)

The kids never did get a ride in this bucket train. :(

Possibly my favorite photo of the day. :D This might be my entry for the first day of Hussies 365.

Ganon on the dragons. Love that smirk.

Dylan on the dragons. I think he's excited.

Kayli in the bounce house.

Ganon coming down the giant slide. He did this twice, costing me $6. It was so worth it.

Dylan coming down the slide. I swear if I hadn't been in a skirt I'd have gotten a ticket for me to go down it, too! IT LOOKS SO FUN.

Lorne explaining to Kayli that they don't, in fact, need to ride the slide 40 hojillion times at $3 a slide.

Ganon started to wear out by about 4pm, but he sat here and played with the trucks Q bought for him. ^_^ Kept telling me "I love Q. She was very sweet and got me some trucks."

Tractors:

This one appears to have teenage legs.

Me, Ganon, & some Cheetos. I included this one even though he isn't smiling because LOOK AT THOSE LITTLE EYES.

HDR photo at sunset, just to play with it. Over on the right you can barely see the Crazy Cajuns food concession. Their food was GREAT, and the lady selling it had on the most beautiful goddess pendant! When I asked what it was (mostly to see if she knew or if she just thought it was pretty), she went all uncomfortable and asked me how open-minded I was. I laughed and said "It's the goddess, isn't it?" and she sighed in relief that I wasn't about to throw a Bible at her. Must be a bit rough, worshipping the goddess in the Bible belt.

Evil Overlord with glowing eyes.
